New York Knicks veteran point guard, Jason Kidd announces that “it is time” to retire from the NBA! After a relaxing weekend in Georgia, Kidd sat down with his agent and came to the decision to hang up his kicks an begin a new chapter in his life…
When you think about 19 years, it has been a heckuva ride. Physically, I want to be able to participate in activities with my kids so it has taken a toll. It is time to move on and think about maybe coaching or doing some broadcasting.
Kidd is sure to be an hall of famer, and will leave his footprints in NBA history, finishing 2nd all-time assist and steal leader behind John Stockton.
Props to ESPN for the story…
Things may start to look up for New York Jets Quarterback, Geno Smith. Following the frustrating draft selection, former West Virginia star Geno Smith has officially joined Jay-z sports firm, Roc Nation Sports.
Geno Smith, who surprisingly didn’t get picked up until the second round of the draft, is happy with his decision and when asked by the press:
“I think it’s just his agency. When you talk about being in New York from a standpoint of what they can do in the city, the connections that they have, I think it’s a good move. My mother and my family is comfortable with it, I’m comfortable with it. I’m just going to move on from there, not let it be a big deal, remain humble and keep focusing on football.”

Ray Ray takes his talents to South Beach…
As mentioned in my previous post, Ray Allen was at the top of the Heat’s priority list since he became a free agent in the off season! Allen landed in Miami on Thursday for his meeting with Heat’s front office today!
After dinner with President Pat Riley and coach Erik Spolestra, Allen has officially decided to Join Bron and the Miami Heat!!! My Opinion: This was the best move for Allen. Let’s just be real, he is getting old! He is 37 and anyone who is heading towards the end of their career should want a ring, and I think he went with his best chance to get it. People can say it was “wrong” with the east rivalry with his former team, the Boston Celtic, but I don’t agree. Clearly the Celtics went out and got replacements for Allen even before he made a decision. He was already going to come off the bench behind Bradley, on top of that last week Celtics acquired another guard in Jason Terry!
You made the right decision Ray, and welcome to the heat gang!
The old-timers spice up the NBA… After a lot of speculation over 38 year old vet Steve Nash and where he will play next year, the former Sun threw a fast ball to the public with his choice. It was clear that Steve Nash would no longer be a Sun after seeing the Phoenix Suns draft Carolina Tarheels Point Guard, Kendall Marshall on top of Nash contract being up. A couple weeks ago we heard rumors of Nash and the Miami Heat interest in each other but nothing was ever confirmed. This week Nash got a BIG offer from the Raptors to come to Canada and play under a 3 year deal, which we thought sure Nash would take being as though he spent years there and has money invested his a soccer team. But to our surprise Steve Nash has signed a deal to team up with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers!!!
Nash says he chose Lakers to be closer to his family and felt like his talents could benefit for this organization. My opinion: Offensively the lakers will be more of a threat this year, it’s impossible to leave Steve Nash open with the set shot that’s potent to any defense. BUT, defensively I think the Lakers are in trouble. It’s no secret, that Nash is not one of the better defenders and with talent like Russell Westbrook and Tony Parker it will be hard for the Lakers to defend, on top of there coach, Mike Brown having a defense first gameplan. It will be interesting to see how this laker gang bounce back this year….
MEANWHILLLEEE IN NEW YORK CITY… After the failed attempt to acquire Steve Nash, the New York Knicks snatch up 39 year-old Jason Kidd from the Dallas Mavericks! Quite unexpected, Kidd, who played with the Mavs since 2008 and being part of the championship team just a year ago, has decided to join Melo and the gang. Not sure how this will work out with Kidd’s age, but Knicks were lacking a facilitator on the floor hence to why they were a shoot first run play later type of squad. Hopefully Kidd’s experience and leadership and bring the chemistry together for this squad and take them further into the playoffs…
Amongst those big trades, a lot more has been going on around the NBA. Jason Terry has signed with the Celtics, Michael Beasley to the Suns, And Lin to the Rockets.
Power moves from both the Brooklyn Nets [formerly the New Jersey Nets] and LA Clippers! Nets acquire Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson and re-sign Deron Williams and Clippers acquire Lamar Odom, Jamal Crawford and Chauncey Billups…/em>
Where will Ray Allen go? Its no secret that Celtics guard, Ray Allen contract is up with the Boston Celtics, whom he spent several years with! Now the headlines is screaming, who will this 37 year-old veteran choose to continue his career with. As we all kno the #1 team with Allen in their sight is the champion Miami Heat! Personally, I feel like Ray Allen is the perfect fit for this team. With him being the BEST 3-pointer shooter to ever play the game, Miami offense sets him up to be a threat to any of their opponents! It’s no way a team can leave Ray Allen unattended behind the arc, which opens up the lane for Bron and Wade:: Vice versa if you double down on Wade and Bron going to the rack (which is most teams strategy) that leaves Ray open for what he does naturally. But here’s the real question at hand:
What is Ray Allen’s motivation?
With offers from the Heat, Celtics, Clippers, Timberwolves and Grizzles…. The determining factor of who Allen will sign with lies in his motivation boundaries. The Miami Heat
can offer him a chance at a ring being as though they are champions and not losing anyone this year, a perfect fit into the type of game Allen is use to playing, BUT only about $3 million a year.
The Boston Celtics can offer Allen the most money at $12 million a year BUT it’s already in stone that he will come off the bench behind a healthy Bradley next year, which poses a problem as rumor has it that Ray wants to start. The Clippers can also only offer Allen about $5 million along with the Grizzlies and Timberwolves but his chances of starting is more likely in those places.
I think Allen decisions is soley based on what he is in it for at this point in his career, I’m praying he goes with the Heat though, but of course my vote is bias [Team Heat all day]
Lamar Odom is back in LA but his jersey is bleeding red white and blue…. Lamar Odom, who was released from the LA Lakers last year and signed with the Dallas Mavericks had one of the worse basketball seasons of her career! Now whether it was from personal things going on in his life at that moment or he was just not a good fit for Dirk and the Mavs is debatable! Odom was officially traded to the Clippers today in a 4-team deal, which included guard Mo Williams who haas been traded to the Utah Jazz. The press had a moment to catch up the Lamar to see how he feels about his OLD new team (if you didn’t know Odom played with the clippers in the beginning stages of his career):
“I’m looking at this like it’s a good fit to be going back to the Clippers,” said Odom, “I think that the Clippers have some very good pieces. I like the way Chris [Paul] and Blake compete. I think basketball-wise, it’ll be pretty easy for me to play with this team.”
We have finally WITNESSED!!! Last night King James and the Miami Heat closed the deal on the KD and the OKC Thunder to clinched the 2nd NBA championship for the Heat Franchise! The most important story of this victory is LeBron James getting his first NBA ring! Now maybe the critics will get off his back! In addition to the championship, Bron began the 10th player in NBA history to win both the regular Season MVP, Finals MVP, and a championship! At only 27, Bron still has more to come! Check out Nike’s tribute commercial to the King and his journey to this life accomplishment:
After a long lock out, shortened season and insane playoff run the time has come!
Tomorrow marks Game 1 of the NBA finals 2012!!! The young boys of the Oklahoma City Thunder make their first appearance in the finals as a unit against the Big 3 from South Beach!! As we all know I’m a die hard Wade fan, so let’s just hope the Miami Heat take their talents to OkC! That’s my prediction is Heat in 6….
